UPDATE: Severe Storms Strike Southeast Iowa

Severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings were issued in the KCII listening area Tuesday afternoon and the KCII Severe Weather Action Team brought you live coverage of the events. At 1:17 p.m. a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for southwestern Washington County, it expired at 2 p.m. A tornado warning was issued for southeastern Washington County at 1:19 p.m. and was radar indicated; it expired at about 1:40 p.m. A tornado warning was issued for central and northern Louisa County at 1:48 p.m. The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado was on the ground near Columbus City and Columbus Junction moving northeast at 20 miles per hour. Also, there was radar indicated rotation.

At 2:13 p.m. another tornado warning was issued for southeastern Washington County, northeastern Henry County and Central Louisa County. The tornado warning expired at 2:20 p.m. for Washington County. Seven members of the KCII Severe Weather Action Team brought you live coverage and had the power gone off, KCII would stay on air with our emergency back up generators.
