Drought throughout the region was mostly wiped out after numerous rounds of showers and thunderstorms over last week.

According to the latest drought monitor report, Washington County and most of the surrounding area has been reduced to abnormally dry conditions, with moderate drought remaining in isolated areas of Jefferson and Henry Counties. Since the latest report was released, according to the National Weather Service, 4.89 inches of rain fell from September 1st through September 5th.
