The streak is over- after nearly three years of losing football, the Winfield-Mt. Union community was given a win on Friday night; and a big one, at that.

The Wolves laid the smackdown on Tri-County Friday, beating the Trojans by a 72-0 score.  There were a lot of great things happening on both sides of the ball.  The running game was virtually unstoppable, with Juanito Piper going off for 219 yards and four touchdowns on just 11 carries. The defense pitched a shutout and scored two touchdowns of their own.

This was the best football anyone had seen for a while from the Wolves, and head coach Scott McCarty agrees.  But while the win is great for the football program, McCarty at least partially credits it to the community’s undying support.

The Wolves take to the road next week to look for win number two on the season when they head to Montezuma.  Kickoff is set for 7:00.
