Cobras look to take down Indians

After a 48-12 victory over Columbus last week, the Sigourney-Keota football team comes into their final home game of the season at 5-2, with two games left to play.  They’ll likely have to win their remaining two games to make the playoffs, and they’ll look to start that off on a high note on Friday against Wapello.

The Cobra offense is coming off a performance in which not one, but two guys ran for over 190 yards, including Sam Sieren, who had the biggest game of his young career with 198 yards on 18 carries and three touchdowns.  After the injury to Carson Crawford a few weeks ago, Sieren, just a sophomore this year, has gotten a lot more time at running back.  Head coach Jared Jensen says he’s pleased with how Sieren has developed over the last few games.

“He had a pretty good night at Eddyville his first night out,” Jensen said.  “But [Friday night], you could tell; he doesn’t look like a sophomore running anymore.”

Sieren, J.D. Stout and the Cobras will look to build on that rushing success this Friday against Wapello.  Kickoff in Sigourney is set for 7:00.
