Golden Hawks Resume Conference Tournament Action

After dropping their first three matches during River Valley Conference Tournament pool play Tuesday in Tipton, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team will be back on the court Thursday at North Cedar.

The Hawks come into the match with an overall record of 7-20 on the year. Mid-Prairie is led by Myah Lugar with 97 kills. Caitlyn Riggan has the team lead and is eighth in the conference with 283 assists. Abbi Patterson leads the Golden Hawk defense and is ninth in the RVC with 238 digs.

Joining Mid-Prairie at North Cedar are the West Branch Bears who enter play at 19-14 on the year. The Bears are led by Abbey Fryauf with 325 kills, third most in the RVC. Riley Vaughan is best on the team and second in the conference with 624 assists. Courtney Jarrett leads the Bear’s defense with 321 digs, third most in the conference.

The Cascade Cougars come into tonight with an 18-13 overall record. On the season they are led by Rachel Trumm with 239 kills, third most in the River Valley Conference. Molly McElmeel has the team lead and is fifth in the conference with 305 assists. Robyn Takes is best on the team and third in the conference with 282 digs.

Northeast Goose Lake enters play with an overall record of 1-28. The Rebels are led by Morgan Hines with 53 kills. Hines also has the team lead with 91 assists. Payton Claussen leads the Rebel defense with 134 digs.

Iowa City Regina comes into the night with an overall record of 11-22. The Regals are led by Jaedynn Evans with 321 kills, fourth most in the RVC. Evans also leads the Regal defense with 401 digs, second most in the league. Kennedy Wallace has the team lead and is fifth in the conference with 441 assists.

North Cedar enters the tournament with a 21-16 record. On the year the Knights are led by Erica Jones with 164 kills, sixth most in the River Valley Conference. Kayla Sander is best on the team and third in the conference with 508 assists. Katie Thompson leads the Knight defense and the conference with 374 digs.

Action begins tonight at 5p.m. at North Cedar High School.
