Kalona and Wapello Receive CDC Recognition

Kalona and Wapello were among 105 Iowa communities that earned 2017 Water Fluoridation Quality awards from the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

The award is given to communities who have shown consistency when it comes to providing the public with clean water while maintaining a consistent level of fluoride in drinking water throughout the year. By having fluoride in the public water tooth decay can be decreased by 25%, according to the CDC. The number amount of cities that qualified for this award grew 110% from 2016.
