Leaves Changing Colors, Next Weekend Prime Time in Southeast Iowa

Fall’s bright colors are starting to show more vividly in trees in southeast Iowa.

According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, October 20th will be the peak time to see the variety of leaf colors in southeast Iowa. Currently cottonwood, walnut, green ash, elm, honey locust and many others are showing yellow. Purple can be seen in white ash. Also, sumac and some maples are beginning to show reds and oranges.
