LIHEAP Offers Heating Assistance to Area Residents

With temperatures plunging below the freezing mark for the first time this fall earlier in the week, residents are reminded that assistance is available for home heating costs.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program or LIHEAP is designed to assist low income families to meet the cost of heating bills. Applications are accepted on a first come/first served basis November 1st through April 30th. Washington County residents may apply for aid at the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program on Lexington Boulevard in Washington. LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program) Income Guidelines

(October 1, 2018 – September 30, 2019)

The total household income for an applicant must be at or below 175% of the 2017 federal poverty guidelines which are listed below:
