Thirteen students from the Mid-Prairie school district traveled to Cedar Rapids to compete in a bowling competition organized by the Special Olympics.

Students have been practicing their bowling skills once a week since the school year started and this was their opportunity to put their skills to the test. Traci Zahradnek, special education teacher at MP, can’t understate the impact this had on the student-athletes, “ It was really cool too see them shine in their element and nice to see them to have a day all about themselves just like their peers would have in school and when they’re participating in athletic events.” This was the first Special Olympic event MP has participated in and they will also be competing in track and field in the spring.
