Downtown Washington businesses will have a night of spooky savings. The Washington Chamber of Commerce has organized Moonlight Madness with 10 businesses taking part in the special sales. Each year, for one night, the businesses stay open late for the shopping event. According to Main Street Washington Director Sarah Grunewaldt, shopping locally helps fund community entities like schools and public safety, because for every dollar spent locally 72 cents stays in the community, while each dollar spent elsewhere only has about 40 cents come back to the local area. Thursday participating stores will be open 4-8 p.m.
