Keota Elementary School will be featuring a brand new after school STEM club for fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students.

Keota is now accepting registrations for the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math club; it will take place in the Keota Public Library each Tuesday night in November. The first unit being taught is called is called “Put a Lid on It: Designing Helmets”. This will teach students the importance of helmets and how they work. Students will even get to design their own helmets that will be put to the test using paintballs and crash test dummies. Amy Green, Washington County 4-H and Youth Coordinator, says, “The goal is to really just let kids be hands-on with science in a different atmosphere than their classroom. There’s a lot of ways to learn and a lot of places to learn, and we’re hoping that kids can see through our STEM clubs and programs that science is in everything we’re doing.” Registration is open now through Keota Elementary School. The registration fee is $10.
