West Fork Crooked Creek Watershed Receives Additional Funding

The West Fork Crooked Creek project was one of the eight watershed projects to receive a share of $2 Million given out by the USDA.

Earlier this week Mike Naig, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture, highlighted the funding. Olivia Krehbiel, the West Fork Crooked Creek Watershed Coordinator says they’re going to use the funding in a variety of practices, “Some of the practices will be cover crops, constructive wetlands, grade stabilization structures, water in sediment control basins, underground outlets, all those things people are already doing here in Washington so it’s just going to help get more people on board.” The USDA’s Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watershed Initiative is behind the funding.
