The Winfield-Mt. Union football team capped off its season a few weeks back; a season which saw the program’s first win since 2015.  But the success wasn’t limited to just the football field.

Each district has different criteria to be named to the academic all-district team, and 8-man district four awards it to any student freshman through senior that boasts a 3.4 GPA or higher on a four-point scale.  15 Wolves met those requirements in the classroom, earning academic all-district honors:

Two seniors got there in Nick Davis and Collin Hinkle.  The junior class saw the most of anyone, seven, awarded in Jared Arnold, Nathan Crow, Noah Freeman, Christian Gerot, Robert Loveless, Daunte Oepping and Juanito Piper.  Sophomores Jack Jennings and Seth Schurr received honors as well, and the freshman class had four honorees, Nick Crow, Griffin Humphereys, Isaac Shurr and Noah Sparrow.

But the academic all-district team isn’t limited to just players.  Four of the team managers received these honors as well: senior Ana Schurr, juniors Lauren Hagge and Nolan Ross, and sophomore Dane Sweezer.
