Landowners whose Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) contracts require modifications will soon be issued their payments. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency announced this week that payments will be issued for contracts that had been approved by September 30 of this year. The 2014 Farm Bill expired on September 30th and the USDA no longer has the authority to make modifications to CRP contracts requiring an increase in contract acres. The USDA issued payments to more than 55,000 landowners with nearly 113,000 CRP contracts in Iowa. Around 700 contracts that require modifications remain unpaid.
