As the weather is cooling down there are plenty of options for hunters this time of year.

Furbearer trapping season opened on Saturday for fox, raccoon, beaver, otter and bobcat. Trapping season will expire the last day of January. According to Conservation Officer for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Wes Gould this is the “peak” of bow hunting season. Bow season ends November 30th. Gould adds the biggest danger for bowhunters is not wearing a harness while in a tree stand, “Most all of our incidents and injuries occur from falling out of tree stands or tree stands breaking, and if we wear a safety harness that will be prevented.” The next big hunting season starts December 1st when deer shotgun season begins.
