The 4-H Distinguished Service Award was recently presented to Amy Green of Washington County. The award recognizes county youth staff members for their long-term difference in their communities through their careers. The award is presented to three people across Iowa each year. Green has been with ISU Extension and Outreach in Washington since 2011. She has worked to recruit, support, and recognize 4-Hers, volunteers and alumni through an array of programs. Green has also mentored two county youth coordinators in other counties and has a leadership role in planning multi-county events and programs. Washington County 4-H and youth outreach programs reached 1,695 students last year, the equivalent of 40% of all youth in Washington County.
