Harvest Drawing to a Close, Behind Average

The end of harvest is in sight for Iowa’s farmers and both the corn and soybean harvests are behind the five-year average. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the state’s corn for grain crop is at 72% harvested, one day behind the five-year average and soybeans are six days behind average with 88% complete. In southeast Iowa 77% of the corn for grain is out of the fields and 81% of soybeans have been harvested. Across the state the moisture content of field corn averaged 17%.
