High Voter Turnout in Washington

Over 9,000 ballots were cast in the general election in Washington County. According to unofficial results from the Washington County Auditor’s Office 9,171 people voted, of the 15,048 total registered voters, or about 61%. In June’s primary only 1,573 people voted. On Tuesday, 5,378 people voted, meaning 3,793 people voted early. The Kalona precinct had the highest turnout with 861 voters. The ballots will be canvassed by the Washington County Board of Supervisors Tuesday. In the 2016 general election, a presidential year, 11,093 people voted.
