The Iowa Mennonite School cross country team continued building their program on success in 2018.

IMS increased their numbers on the season in head coach Marty Gingerich’s 16th season, with 11 boys runners and eight on the girls side. IMS finished sixth in the boys side of the Southeast Iowa Superconference field, led by all-conference runner Brian Nchoe and his 10th place finish. The IMS girls were eighth in the league with Leah Bontrager leading the way, earning an all-conference spot with her 10th place finish. At the state qualifier, IMS kept their streak alive, sending a runner to the state meet in Fort Dodge for the third straight year. Leah Bontrager qualified for state with a 14th place finish as the IMS girls seventh overall in the team standings. On the boys side IMS did not have a runner qualify as Brian Nchoe had the top finish in 27th for an IMS team that placed 10th. At the state meet, Bontrager was 72nd in class 1A with a time of 22:16. IMS graduates four runners including Jacob Boller, Micah Miller, Rachel Geyer and Mackenzie Gutierrez.
