KCII Radio’s 16th Annual Caring Christmas food drive is underway. KCII is collecting items to help local food pantries. KCII General Manager Joe Nichols shares a variety of items are needed, including non-perishable food and hygiene products like shampoo, deodorant, and paper towels. He adds to check the date on food, “Make sure you check the dates. They cannot take anything that has an expired date on it. So be very cautious of that. Especially if you’re donating food to our Caring Christmas Food Drive, because since we collect it in November and December, and we don’t deliver until January we want to make sure that you pay close attention to the expiration dates on anything that you have.”

The Big Red Radio will be making its first stop of the Caring Christmas Food Drive on Monday. Visit the Big Red Radio between 10 a.m. and noon at your Washington Hy-Vee. Drop off donations any time you see the Big Red Radio or at participating businesses or at KCII. Items will be collected through November and December and then distributed to area food pantries in January to help restock their shelves after the busy holiday season.
