Keota Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Wreck

A Keota woman was killed in a car wreck in Louisa County Sunday. According to the Iowa State Patrol, at 8:06 a.m. on County Road X17 northwest of Columbus Junction 20-year-old Jasmine Alvarez Gonzalez of Keota died in a two-vehicle wreck. Gonzalez was southbound on the road when she crossed the center line and went off the road into the east ditch, she then over-corrected and veered back across the road onto the west shoulder. Her Toyota Corolla crossed the center line again and was struck broadside by a semi in the northbound lane. The car came to rest in the east ditch and the semi came to rest on the east shoulder. The semi was driven by 47-year-old Steven Glen Dill of Keota. Dill was wearing a seat belt and Gonzalez was not. Gonzalez was transported to the medical examiner in Ankeny by the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. The accident remains under investigation.
