The Iowa Mennonite School boys basketball jamboree had some exciting early season moments Monday night at Hillcrest Union.

The IMS boys beat Mid-Prairie in a tightly contested half of play 27-25. The Golden Hawks held a slim 9-8 lead after one quarter but as the offenses settled in during the second frame the two teams stayed close. With the game tied at 27-27 in the final 30 seconds, IMS guard Eli Ours hit a floating shot in the lane that would prove to be the difference. IMS made that stand up on their final defensive possession as Caleb Gingerich came away with a steal to secure the win. IMS was led in the victory by Trevor Leyden with 11 points, Ours finished with nine. Mid-Prairie was led by Cale Robertson with 10 points and four rebounds. IMS gets their season underway November 27th when they host Lone Tree. Mid-Prairie begins their year November 30th with a road trip to Tipton.
