Soybean Harvest Behind Five-Year Average

Harvesting corn and soybeans, baling stalks, applying manure and anhydrous, and planting cover crops were all activities Iowa’s farmers reported in the last week. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 81% of soybeans have been harvested in southeast Iowa, behind the five-year average of 94%. Southeast Iowa has 77% of its corn harvested for grain out of the fields, ahead of last year’s 64%. Southwest Iowa only has 55% of its corn harvested. Currently, moisture content of field corn being harvested in Iowa averaged 17%.
