The Iowa Mennonite basketball teams went up against Mediapolis at Hillcrest Union last night, with both the girls and the boys taking the loss.

The girls’ game was all Mediapolis early on, with the Bulldogs going up 27-5 at the end of the first quarter.  The deficit would only get bigger, and the Bulldogs would lead by 35 going into the fourth quarter.  IMS would outscore Mepo 13-5 in quarter number four, but it wasn’t enough, as the score would be 62-37 Mepo at the final buzzer.  Suzanna Yoder scored 20+ points for the fifth time in five games this season, ending with 25.

The boys’ game was a bit of the same story as the girls’, with Mediapolis getting out to as big of a lead as 13-1 in the first quarter.  IMS would storm back to make it a seven-point game going into the second, but they would never see the lead, losing to Mediapolis for the first time since 2011 by a 66-48 score.  This was the first time this season that IMS didn’t have multiple double-figure scorers; Eli Ours led the way with 16, and Caleb Gingerich was second to him with nine.

The losses move IMS to 2-3 and 2-1 for the girls and boys teams, respectively.  Their next action comes on Friday night when they hit the road to take on Pekin.
