The Washington Demon boys’ basketball team earned their first win of the year last night, beating Muscatine on the road 54-38.

The Demons got out to a quick start, taking a 16-5 lead going into the second quarter thanks to eight first quarter points from Cade Hennigan.  But the Muskies would come storming back in the second, outscoring the Demons 16-5 to bring the halftime score to 21 apiece.  The game was close for a while after that, but the Demons would take control midway through the fourth quarter to keep extending the lead and taking the game 54-38.

Three Demons finished in double-figures in the scoring column.  Luke Turner led the way with 15 after scoring 11 against Liberty on Tuesday, Hennigan would tack on a few more after the first quarter and finish with 14, and Trevor Quigley had his second straight double-digit point outing with 11.

Their next action comes this Friday night when they travel to Fairfield to open up conference play against the Trojans in the second half of a double-header.  Coverage of those two games will begin with the Washington HyVee Pregame Show at 5:45.  Tip-off for the girls’ game is set for 6:15, with the boys to follow.
