The Washington boys’ basketball team played a thriller of a ballgame against Albia on Thursday night; a ballgame which ended in a 45-42 score, with the Demons on the losing side.

In action heard on KCII, the Demons got out to a quick lead, leading by as many as nine points early on.  Albia got it to within one, and the teams were neck-and-neck for the rest of the first half to bring it to a one-point difference at halftime.

The Demons came out swinging and pulled away to take as much as a 13-point lead, but the shots went cold, and the Blue Demons stormed back, eventually re-taking the lead in the final minutes of regulation.  Cade Hennigan had to fire up a three as time expired, but it rattled in and out to end the game.

Cade Hennigan was the only Demon player to break double-figures in points, notching ten.  Ethan Hunt and Treshaun Willis were next in the pecking order with seven and six points, respectively.

With the loss, the Demons end their 2018 calendar year at 2-5.  They’ll be back in the new year, with their next game coming against Mount Pleasant on January 4.  Coverage of that one will be on KCII.
