There were 885 people who lost their lives in traffic crashes involving a drunk driver in December of 2017, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Washington County Sheriff Jared Schneider is reminding you have a safe way to get home lined up before you go celebrate, “Sometimes drinking comes into play at family get togethers or celebrations with your friends, and I just encourage people if they are going to participate in that to make sure that they have somebody to drive them home. Don’t put other people at risk out there on the roadways. Make sure you think about those things before you head out to celebrate the holidays.” In 2016, 32% of fatal crashes during the holiday season were a result of alcohol-impaired driving. Remember to drive sober or get pulled over.
