The Keota basketball teams welcomed North Mahaska to town for a South Iowa Cedar League doubleheader this past Thursday night, with the girls taking the loss and the boys picking up the win.

The girls’ game came first, with the Eagles taking the loss to the tenth-ranked Warhawks 53-12.  The score was 29-11 at halftime, and the Eagles were shut down almost completely in the second half, scoring just one point across the last two quarters of action.

The boys’ game was next, with the Eagles taking it to the Warhawks 63-47.  It was a six-point game at the half, but a dominant third quarter from Keota put the Eagles in a great spot to coast to victory.  JD Stout had 32 points in that one, bringing his season total to 202 (27.7 ppg), which is good for the most in the state across all classes.

Thursday’s outcomes move the girls to 3-9 and the boys to 6-5 on the season.  The Eagle basketball teams will return to action on January 4 when they hit the road for a SICL doubleheader against Colfax-Mingo.
