The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams are back home Friday to close the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule Friday when they take on the Northeast Goose Lake Rebels.

The Mid-Prairie girls enter play with a 6-3 overall record. After a 6-0 start the Hawks have dropped three straight including a 61-24 loss at No. 15 Wilton Tuesday. Maddie Nonnenman led the Hawks in the loss with eight points. On the season, Mid-Prairie is led by Shae Becker scoring 13 per game, seventh most in the River Valley Conference. Becker also leads the Hawks on the glass with 53 total rebounds, ninth in the RVC. Kessa Jones paces the Hawks with 20 assists, seventh in the conference.

Northeast comes in with an overall record of 2-6, in their last recorded action they were beaten by Iowa City Regina 65-26. For the year the Rebels are led by Emma Fowler at eight points per game. Claire Abbott leads the team with 16 assists, Abbott has also pulled down a team best 64 rebounds, fifth most in the RVC. These two teams met a year ago with Mid-Prairie taking a 57-53 win.

The Mid-Prairie boys enter play with a 5-3 overall record, winners of back-to-back games including a 74-48 victory over Wilton last time out. Cale Robertson led Mid-Prairie in the win with 27 including 23 in the second half. For the year Mid-Prairie is led by Robertson at 14 points per game, eighth in the RVC South. Brad Tornow leads the Hawks and is 10th in class 2A with 44 assists. Tom Butters has the team lead with 75 rebounds, second in the RVC South.

Northeast Goose Lake enters with a 3-5 overall record, including dropping three straight. Their last game at Monticello they fell 55-47. For the season the Rebels are led by Braeden Hoyer at 16 points per game, third in the River Valley North. Hoyer also leads the Rebels and is eighth in class 2A with 84 rebounds. Trey McAleer has the team lead with 32 assists, third in the RVC. These two teams met a year ago with the Rebels getting a 70-45 win.

Action begins tonight at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman with the girls game tipping at 6p.m. and the boys to follow.
