The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team is at home for the only time this season Thursday when they host a River Valley Conference quadrangular with Northeast Goose Lake, Camanche and Bellevue.

The Hawks stand at 4-4 on the year. They were last in action Saturday at the Mount Vernon Invitational where they finished 13th of 17 teams with 39 points, led by Isaac Boucher at 220lbs taking third place.

The Northeast Goose Lake Rebels come into the night with an overall mark of 0-5. Last time out the Rebels were swept by Anamosa, West Liberty and Tipton in a home quadrangular.

Bellevue comes into the night with an overall record of 7-4. Last time out the Comets swept Durant, North Cedar and West Branch in a conference quadrangular.

Camanche comes into the night with an overall record of 5-0. Last time out they swept Wilton and Cascade in a conference triangular. The Indians have two ranked wrestlers in their lineup with Baylor Crigger at No. 4 at 152lbs and Eric Campie at No. 9 at 160lbs.

This week, Mid-Prairie head coach Justin Garvey previewed the meet. “Bellevue is a real up-and-coming team. We have had really close duels with them over the last few seasons. We’re going to have to win some matches. Northeast is a little down, their numbers have been dwindling. For Camanche it might be between them and West Liberty as to who the leaders of the conference are. That’s going to be one of those duels where we know we are giving up five weight classes right away. We are going to have to win a lot of matches and get the right matchups.”

A season ago Mid-Prairie beat Northeast in their two meetings, knocked off Bellevue in their lone dual and fell to Camanche in their one match up. Wrestling begins tonight at 5:30 at Mid-Prairie High School.
