It was a business trip Monday for the Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams as they traveled outside of conference play to take on Williamsburg.

The Mid-Prairie girls stayed unbeaten on the year with a 46-34 win. The Golden Hawk defense clamped down on the Raiders in the first half,allowing just four points in each of the first and second quarters as Mid-Prairie opened a 25-8 lead going to the locker room. Offensively, Shae Becker dominated play putting up a game high 21 points including 18 in the first half. After the game Becker talked about her night, “My teammates did a great job of getting me the ball inside and I was able to finish my shots. We just have to keep going. I support my team and get them open shots as well but when I was open tonight I was going to score.” 

 Williamsburg would get as close as seven in the fourth quarter before Mid-Prairie put the game away at the line. Along with Becker’s 21, Myah Lugar finished with 11. The Hawks are now 6-0 on the year.The Mid-Prairie boys rode a big start to a big win,hammering the Raiders for a 63-40 win. The Golden Hawks began the game with an18-1 run, holding the Raiders scoreless from the field for the first seven and a half minutes of the contest. The Golden Hawks were up 34-13 at half and would expand their lead to as many as 34 after the break. Tom Butters led the way for Mid-Prairie with 12 points and eight rebounds. After the game, Mid-Prairie head coach Daren Lambert talked about his team’s play “it’s team basketball. We have guys in situations to be successful because we are trusting each other, trusting the offense. We’re working extremely hard on the defensive end. Guys care about each other and are starting to see what’s working and that’s playing together. Seeing it back-to-back nights, they can see it and believe it even more.”

The Golden Hawk boys are now 3-2 on the year.
