Holiday tunes will be heard at the Washington High School Thursday. The annual winter vocal concert will be held with high school and elementary singers. The Lincoln Sunrise Singers will be opening the concert, under the direction of Julie Hill. High school vocal director Jon Runaas says the HIFIs will be singing a vocal jazz version of Jingle Bells. The high school concert choir will perform a collection of holiday songs, including an audience participation piece.

Senior Meghan Newman made an arrangement of Carol of the Bells and has been leading rehearsals with a small chamber group which will perform.

Also, a men’s choir will be featured with members of the high school choir along with area adults, including high school principal Erik Buccholz, sing Franz Biebl’s Ave Maria. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center at the high school.
