The Highland basketball teams traveled to Wapello on Friday night, with the girls coming out victorious and the boys taking the loss.

The girls’s game started things off ,with the Huskies taking a six-point win, 47-41.  After being down four after the first quarter, the Huskies cut the lead to two going into the halftime break.  Momentum was on Highland’s side from that point on, outscoring the Indians 28-20 to take the win.

Aly Stokes had another 20+-point game, her third of the year, by scoring a season-high 27 points.  Abbie Miller recorded another double-double with 15 points and 12 boards.  She’s had a double-double in every single game this season.

The boys’ game was a 12-point differential, with the Huskies taking the loss 58-46.  It was a tight first half, as the game went into halftime with the Indians up two.  But they would start to pull away after the break, outscoring the Huskies 30-20 in the second half.  A 20-point, five-assist, five-steal effort from Trey Lasek was not enough to lead the team to victory.

The girls improve to 4-2 with the win and the boys fall to 3-1 after the loss.  The next Highland basketball action comes tomorrow night when they welcome KCII-area opponent Winfield-Mt. Union to town.  Tip-off of the girls’ game is set for 6:00, with the boys to follow.
