Iowa County’s Jail has received a state award. The jail was recognized for being the “Best of the Best” of jails in the State of Iowa in the medium-sized category. Iowa County Sheriff Rob Rotter explains the award is presented to jails in the state who are noted for going above and beyond jail standards. Rotter states, “that this award was a testament to the hard working jail staff at Iowa County.” He adds that the staff at the Iowa County Jail run the jail well, while treating those there “like fellow human beings which helps reduce recidivism.” The Iowa County Jail is located in Marengo and has an authorized capacity of 44 inmates. It opened in 2006.
