The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls basketball teams are ready for a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader Tuesday when they take on Mediapolis at Hillcrest Union in Kalona.

The IMS girls come in with a 2-2 overall record after 73-47 loss to Louisa-Muscatine Friday where Suzanna Yoder led the way with 30 points. For the season, Yoder holds the team lead, Superconference lead, and is second in the state in class 1A, scoring 28 points per game. She also leads the team, is second in the conference and tied for the state lead with 21 assists. Yani Gutierrez is best on the glass for IMS with 37 boards, fourth most in the Superconference.

The Mediapolis Bullettes come into the game at 4-0 after squeaking out a 61-60 win at Holy Trinity on Saturday. They are ranked No. 13 in class 2A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. For the year MEPO is led by Maya Johnson at 25 points per game, second most in the Superconference. Helaina Hillyard is best on the team, in the conference and in Iowa in class 2A with 29 assists. Ruthie Jahn holds the team lead and is sixth in the conference with 30 rebounds. MEPO swept the season series a year ago, winning 86-48 in Kalona and 75-49 at Mediapolis.

The Iowa Mennonite boys come into tonight’s action with an overall record of 2-0 after wins over Lone Tree and Louisa-Muscatine. IMS beat the Falcons on the road Friday 73-41 behind a double double of 21 points and 10 rebounds for Eli Ours. For the year, IMS is led by Ours at 16 points per game, fifth most in the Superconference. Caleb Gingerich is best on the team and second in the Superconference with 14 assists. Jeremy Niemeyer leads IMS on the glass with 21 boards, third most in the conference.

Mediapolis enters play with an overall mark of 2-1 on the year. Last time out, they beat Holy Trinity on Saturday 60-49 behind 18 points from Ben Wolgemuth. For the year Wolgemuth leads the Bulldogs, the Superconference and is fourth in class 2A, scoring 22 points per game. He is also the leading rebounder with 29 boards, most in the conference and seventh in the state. Drew Schroeder leads MEPO and the Superconference with 16 assists.
