The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls basketball teams came up short on the road Friday in Packwood against the Pekin Panthers. The IMS girls were beaten 56-29. IMS fell behind early, seeing the Panthers begin the game on an 18-4 run that lasted the entire first period. Pekin held a 29-11 lead at the half and would stretch that to 41-17 after three quarters. Suzanna Yoder led IMS with 16 points. With the loss, IMS falls to 2-4 on the season.

The boys contest was back and forth with Pekin scoring a 56-46 win. The Panthers held a slim 13-12 lead after the first eight minutes but capitalized on a big second quarter, going on a 15-5 run that lasted the entire period to take a 28-17 lead into the half. In the second half, IMS would cut the lead to seven on several occasions but would get no closer. Jeremy Niemeyer led IMS with a double double, 21 points and 10 rebounds. Eli Ours added 11. With the loss, IMS stands at 2-2 on the season.
