The recommended compensation for elected officials in Washington County for Fiscal Year 2020 will be considered at a later date. The matter was on the agenda for the Tuesday Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting. The supervisors are awaiting the official letter from the county compensation board. Washington County Supervisor Jack Seward explained what they will be considering, “I’d just like to say that the recommendations from the comp. board ranged from a 7% increase down to a 3% increase, of course we have to consider that and whether or not to roll back those recommended increases across the board by the same amount. Yeah, we’ll be thinking about that.”

Last year, the supervisors approved salary increases for elected officials in Washington County ranging from 0.9% to 2.6% increase. The compensation board had recommended higher increases, but the supervisors rolled it back to lower amounts. For example, the recommended increase for supervisors was 7.25% and it was lowered to a 0.72% increase for annual salary. The annual supervisor salary is currently $36,657. The other positions this will affect are auditor, county attorney, recorder, sheriff, and treasurer.
