The student council at WACO Junior and Senior High School raised funds to purchase a new vending machine.

The student council reached out to vendors to explore options, however they were shut down, as vendors did not think it was efficient to come to Wayland, according to Principal Tim Bartels. The students then took things into their own hands. They raised money through various fundraisers, like selling candy canes, to purchase a vending machine that arrived earlier this week. Senior Caitlin Sells says things like this are standard at WACO, “This year especially WACO has really advanced in things. We’ve gotten a lot of new things and there’s been a lot of great things added to our school.” Bartels is overseeing the operations but says that the students are in charge maintaining the machine and filling it with snacks.
