The WACO basketball teams played in a Superconference doubleheader against Holy Trinity Catholic last night in Wayland, with the girls taking the loss and the boys coming out on top.

The girls’ game was first, with the Warriors losing by just five points, 42-37.  It was a ten-point game at halftime, but the Warriors would play it very tightly in the second half.  They even won the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t quite enough to take the victory.  Clara Schmitz led the way for WACO, scoring 14.

The boys would then take a double-digit win, 64-52.  It was a great night for Drew Kissel, scoring a season-high 22 points to help lead his team to victory.  Nik Coble and Braden Hammond were next in points with eight.

The loss moves the girls to 2-6 on the year, and the boys improve to 5-2 with the win.  The next WACO basketball action comes on Saturday when they head to Winfield-Mt. Union to take on the Wolves.  The girls’ game is scheduled to tip off at 5:00, with the boys game to follow.
