The Winfield-Mt. Union girls basketball team scored their first win of the campaign Saturday, taking out New London on the road 51-43.

The two teams played even up in the first half, leaving the game tied at nine after one quarter and 22 at the halftime break. The Wolves made their move in the third quarter going on an 18-6 run that lasted the entire frame to take a 12 point lead to the fourth. That was too much for the Warriors to overcome as WMU coasted in for the win. Jenna Buffington was a force for Winfield-Mt. Union, scoring 19 points and pulling in 19 boards. Liana Sweezer finished with 10. Winfield-Mt. Union is now 1-4 on the year and hosts Columbus Friday.
