Work continues on the new Washington Fire Station. Crews have been doing the groundwork on the project. City Administrator Brent Hinson says big changes are on the near horizon, “To this point it’s been a very big process, a big project but you don’t see much noticeable difference there other than the removal of the houses that were there previously and property that we acquired. But you will see that really change greatly here in the next few months as they erect the building.” The $2,454,000 project is being completed by Bushong Construction.

The existing building that is currently shared by the three departments: fire, police, and city hall, will be remodeled after the fire station is complete. The current facility will house the police station and city hall, giving each more space for daily operations.
