It was an all-KCII area boys basketball showdown Thursday at Keota High School when the Washington Demons visited the Eagles.

Washington started fast, outscoring Keota 22-8 in the first quarter, stretching their lead to 20 in the second quarter before taking a 43-26 lead into the half. The Eagles got hot in the second half, knocking down seven three point field goals and chipped away at the Demon lead, pulling within two in the final three minutes of the contest. Washington withstood the charge, coming up with key defensive stops and Trevor Quigley went four of four at the line in the final minute to ice the game. After the contest Washington head boys basketball coach Collin Stark talked about his team’s night. “It was our defense that got our offense going, and that’s the way this team is built. Getting stops and then transitioning out. I thought in both halves the key was the defensive end. I have full confidence in all of my guys, and I thought we worked hard. Now it’s about working smart.”

Quigley led the Demons on the scoresheet with 13 points, Cade Hennigan finished with 12 and Ethan Hunt added 10. Keota was led by 24 points from JD Stout, Carson Sprouse finished with 14. With the win the Demons are now 3-6 on the year, Keota falls to 8-6.
