The Keota basketball teams both picked up a home win last night, each blowing out HLV.

The girls’ game was first, with the Eagles routing the Warriors by 32 points.  It was a four-point game after one, but the second quarter would extend their lead to 10 at the halftime break.  They would keep adding on to the lead until the game was broken wide open in the fourth to take the win 56-28.  The Eagle defense didn’t allow more than nine points to be scored in a single quarter.  With the win, the Eagles to improve to 5-10, and have gone 2-1 in the new year.

The boys’ game was even more lopsided, with the Eagles taking a 41-point win, 69-28.  HLV actually led by three after the first quarter, but the Eagles would come out firing on all cylinders from the second quarter onward.  JD Stout put up 20 in the victory, followed by Luke Hammen with 14 and Carson Sprouse with 11 off the bench.  The Eagles jump up to 8-5 after their third straight win.

The girls are done for the week, but the boys have a game coming up on Thursday when they welcome the Washington Demons to town.  That one will be broadcast live on AM 1380 and FM 102.5 starting with the Washington HyVee Pregame Show at 7:00 with a 7:30 tip.
