The Highland basketball teams took to the road last night to take on Pekin, with both teams taking the loss.

The girls’ game was first, with the Panthers taking it 50-39.  The game was effectively decided in the first quarter; it the quarter scores in the second, third, and fourth quarters were all within two or less of each other, but the first quarter saw Pekin get out to a six-point lead.  The Huskies were down seven at halftime, but could never quite get close enough to complete the comeback.

The boys’ game was a bit more one-sided, with the Huskies taking a 23-point loss.  It was another story of Pekin coming hot out of the gate, outscoring the Huskies 36-19 in the first half.  The deficit would be built a little more in the third, and Highland couldn’t recover in the fourth.

The losses bump the girls to 12-4 and the boys to 8-5 on the season.  The two teams will be at it again this Thursday night when they hit the road to take on Danville.
