Iowa has had its first flu-related death of the 2018-2019 influenza season. The Iowa Department of Public Health has announced the death of an eastern Iowa man who was between the ages of 41-60 and had underlying conditions or contributing factors. Flu activity has increased in the last three weeks in Iowa with influenza now in every region of the state. The Centers for Disease Control recommends everyone over six months of age get a flu vaccine. Last year, there were 271 influenza-related deaths in the state.
