The Mid-Prairie Home School Education Center failed to provide a required water sample to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, according to the Mid-Prairie School District.

Every year between June 30th and September 30th the building is required to send a sample of drinking water to the DNR to test for contaminants, to ensure health standards are being met. The Homeschool Education Center did not send in a sample during the 2018 testing window, resulting in a violation.

Mid-Prairie Business Manager Jeff Swartzentruber says they did not receive the testing vial that’s sent by the DNR. As soon as the violation notice was given to Mid-Prairie they ran a thorough test on the drinking water, to ensure the water was at a safe standard, according to Swartzentruber. The results of that test came back normal. Swartzentruber says the violation will keep them more aware come test time next year.
