The Sigourney and WACO basketball teams squared off in Wayland for a KCII-area match-up last night, with each school finishing 1-1 on the evening.
The girls’ game saw Sigourney take home the win by a 57-25 score. The Savages were led by two 20-point performances from Megan Stuhr and Kaylee Weber. This is a new career high for Weber, surpassing her 19-point game against Iowa Valley earlier this year. Clara Schmitz led the way for WACO with six points.
The boys’ game was even more lop-sided, with WACO taking down the Savages 67-27. Nik Coble broke out again for the Warriors, putting up 23 points, and Drew Kissell was the other Warrior in double-figures with 13. Dustin Haines put up 12 for Sigourney, but no one else on the team scored more than three points.
The Sigourney girls and boys move to 9-2 and 5-5 on the season, respectively, while WACO moves to 4-9 on the girls’ side and 9-3 on the boys’. The next action for the Sigourney teams comes tonight at home in a doubleheader against North Mahaska, while WACO will hit the road on Friday to take on West Burlington.
