A man found guilty of theft in the first degree has been sentenced to probation. On November 1st, a jury found Greg Allen Schindler guilty of theft in the first degree and ongoing criminal conduct, two felonies. Schindler was arrested in October of 2017 for theft from his former employer, Archer Appliance and Electronics. He had been the company’s bookkeeper and had stolen $24,460.80 in cash between April 2014 and April 2017.

This week, Kevin Erpelding, owner of Archer Appliance and Electronics, gave a victim impact statement to the Court, and explained how the crimes affected the business and its employees. At sentencing Thursday, Washington County Attorney John Gish asked the Court to send Schindler to prison for his crimes. Schindler asked for a deferred judgment. The Court denied the deferred judgment request, but he will serve up to five years of supervised probation. The two felony convictions will remain on his permanent criminal record.
