The number of Iowans claiming unemployment benefits is at its lowest in two decades. According to Iowa Workforce Development 92,344 Iowans are claiming unemployment benefits while the state’s unemployment remains low at 2.4%. Last month, Iowa had 40,600 people unemployed. In 2018 in Iowa, manufacturing was the number one creator of jobs, adding 7,600. Construction industries added 5,100 and the accommodations and food services sector lost 4,500 jobs.
