A winter weather advisory has been upgraded to a winter storm warning for portions of the KCII-listening area. The National Weather Service has issued the winter storm warning until 9 p.m. Saturday for Washington, Keokuk, Louisa, Jefferson, and Henry Counties. A winter weather advisory remains for Iowa and Johnson Counties until 9 p.m. Saturday.

According to AccuWeather, snowfall totals will range from 5 to 11 inches south of Interstate 80, with the highest amounts expected south of Highway 34. A winter storm warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

The City of Wellman has issued a snow emergency until 10 p.m. Saturday. As of 8:10 a.m., Washington had 5.1 inches of snow. Ainsworth had 3.5 inches of snow at 7:50 a.m. Ottumwa and Burlington each had four inches of snow as of 7 a.m.
